LIMITED EDITION COLLECTABLE PRINTS: EXHIBITION AND ARTSIT TALKS.
Exhibition: Jan 14th – 15th Feb 2012
Artist Reception: Jan 13th 2012 @ 7:30pm
An exhibition of notable and selected rare prints will be at GX Gallery in London this January. GX is proud to present: Barbara Rae, John Hoyland, Bruce McLean, Brendan Neiland, Sir Peter Blake, Tom Phillips, Rob Ryan, Brad Faine, Sandra Blow, Sir Terry Frost, Dan Baldwin, Maurice Cockrill, Patrick Hughes, Beryl Cook, Storm Thorgerson, Donald Hamilton-Fraser and Michael McCartney all together in a singular space. As the exhibition runs through January and February GX are taking the opportunity to support the British Heart Foundation and will be including non profit artworks by the selected artists in support of the charity. LIMITED EDITION COLLECTABLE PRINTS is a two part exhibition hanging in the main gallery from January 14th 2012 with additional works being added after the 22nd of January. Later works will include a series by Michael McCartney (son of Paul McCartney) which will be arriving directly from their trade release.
The opening night features two presentations worth attending for those interested in relevant contemporary British artists. The artwork will be exhibited at GX’s contemporary space in Camberwell from January 14th through to 15th February 2012. Opening night and a reception for the artists is scheduled for 7:30pm on 13 January 2012 which is free and open to the public, guests are encouraged to meet and converse with presenters. Prints are arriving in the gallery now and will be available for preview by appointment from Monday, 9th Jan 2012. The opening reception features two speakers: Clare Clinton arts author, who will discuss her biography of Donald Hamilton Fraser and last interviews with him. Artist and print maker Brendan Neiland who will give a talk on the process and influence of screen printing in modern art.
Works of interest abound in this show, some of which are the last remaining in commercial markets. For example, the last available ‘Watches’ print from the Found Art series by Sir Peter Blake, significant in its scarcity and relevance to pop art culture. Barbara Rae, Storm Thorgerson, Brad Faine and Brendan Neiland are issuing new limited editions for the exhibit. These new releases’, together with rare material, will prove to be exciting and well worth a visit to this established south London contemporary art gallery. Bright colours, bold explorations in texture, tone and composition will provide visitors with enough visual stimulation to expel the heaviest post seasonal melancholy.
